iProf rolls out XtraClass to 25 schools in pre-launch
Noida-based elearning startup iProf Learning Solutions has launched XtraClass, a solution that combines school curriculum and test preparation material for engineering and medical examinations. As part of the solution’s pre-launch, the company has rolled out the solution to over 3,000 students through tie-ups with 25 schools across multiple cities including Patna, Jaipur and Agra.
The XtraClass content can be accessed on any Android-based tablet device. The company will hook up schools with WiFi routers which will access iProf’s servers over a secure connection. Students will be able to access content additions and upgrades on a real-time basis. The company has partnered with technology service providers such as IBM, Wipro and Sify to implement an end-to-end solution for content management and delivery, said a press release.
XtraClass offers over 300 hours of content in the form of audio and video lectures, digitized reading notes and practice tests. Students can also interact with faculty online or over telephone. The study material covers CEE, which is the new JEE pattern, AIPMT, (NEET), CA-CPT and class curriculum for standards 9 through 12. Details on how the course is priced were not available.
Founded in 2009 by former civil services officer Sanjay Purohit, iProf raised $4.9 million from IDG Ventures India and Norwest Venture Partners last April, as part of its Series A round of funding. Apart from making its study material available on tablet devices, the company also runs a network of offline centers called iStudyZone. Its website lists 20-odd such centers across the country. In addition, the company offers content through its own tablet device, branded iProf, which retail between Rs 8,990 and Rs 19,405 a piece.
