Mumbai-based ecommerce startup Pepperfry has raised a $5 million Series A round of funding from Norwest Venture Partners, said a press release issued by the company. The stake acquired by Norwest has not been disclosed.

Founded by former eBay India country manager Ambareesh Murty, the site is expected to go live later this month. Murty quit eBay India in May this year and has since then built a team of 70 ecommerce and retail professionals, said the release. The site plans to offer more than 25,000 affordable lifestyle products across categories such as clothing, furniture, fashion jewellery and personal care by Christmas. It has set up ground sourcing and logistics operations in Delhi and Jodhpur.
