Among the chief problems that startups face while trying to raise venture capital is access to investors. If access is not a problem, closing a deal inevitably becomes an uphill task. Venture capitalists, to be fair, are far more easily accessible in India today then perhaps 4-5 years ago. Thanks to forums such as Proto.in, Headstart and the numerous business plans contests that now populate the Indian startup landscape, it is not entirely impossible to get into a friendly chat with an investor and make an impromptu elevator pitch. Getting the money, however, is an entirely different proposition. This is when the all important question crops up: Are you a venture- fundable startup?
