Now why do perfectly nice people have to get cocky and spoil it all? The organizers of Proto.in, which hosts its next edition on January 23 and 24 in Bangalore, have come up with a feature called PitchCamp! — “Learn the inside scoop on how VCs (venture capitalists), corporate partners and journalists think.” writes Proto.in curator Vijay Anand. Impressed that the organizers actually have the scoop on how journalists think and will be passing on that wisdom to young entrepreneurs.
January is also the month when the two rival startup networking conferences — HeadStart and Proto.in — go head-to-head. Last year they had their respective events on the same days. This year better sense seems to have prevailed. Not much available yet on the agenda and speakers at Proto.in — badges for bloggers are available on the blog — but let’s hope, getting into journalists’ minds aside, the event continues with the good work of showcasing startups from diverse sectors.

It is? *blink blink*

Hey Kesava, The rivalry between Proto.in and HeadStart is more than a year old now. And that’s official. I don’t create ‘aritificial’ rivalries. I just report and comment on the real ones
This is healthy competition (between the two forums) and I hope that eventually the net result is that more entrepreneurship comes to the fore. Thanks for reading and writing in.
Snigdha,
Do you really believe Proto.in and HeadStar are rival startup networking conferences?
Don’t you think you are creating artificial rivalry? Look at this way.. two opportunities for startups to give demo. Two places to network.
What is the diff? Check with people and organizers.

The entire month of Jan is packed with showcase events. Its crazy how different people want to do different things. I think there is a need to concentrate efforts and create on niche event rather than having 4 – 5 different cities – similar events year on year.
IIM Ahmedabad is also putting up a showcase sometime in the month of February. So looking forward to all of these and the spotting the difference.
It will be almost like “spot the difference” contest
